Observations: Confier trees

Our friends have enjoyed the coming winter in the best of ways--exploring all that nature has to offer at this time of year.  We made observations about the many trees in the park that still had leaves.  Our friends compared the fallen, crinkly brown leaves on the forest floor to the spiky pine needles that were still bright green and fragrant.

Traipsing through the woods we go, spotting seasonal plants and a perfect hiding spot under the drooping needles of an evergreen tree. A fallen log provides the perfect tight rope not to mention a great place for discovery. What happened to this tree--our curious investigators wondered.

A deliciously sunny day this week and a giant fallen tree inspired an impromptu game of Billy Goats Gruff, with Ms. Gilly as the bridge troll! "Who's that tromping on my bridge!"

Happy Holidays everyone!!
We'd like to give a warm welcome to families joining us in January! Stay tuned for adventures in the new year!
