Welcoming a New Class!

Happy New Year!
We are thrilled to welcome a whole new class of friends to Play by the Park.

Last week , we introduced our new friends to the many ways to play together, including construction and demolition, sorting, planting, watering and playing in our new garden center, and of course, enjoying sensory play with sand and digging tools.

When we ventured outside last week, we discovered something very strange about the lake. Ms. Gilly threw a nearby stick in the cold water but it merely skated on top! What happened to our lake, she asked??

"It's stuck! It's ice!", our class agreed.

A frozen reed gave us the perfect opportunity to feel the smooth texture of ice and its cold, slippery surface. Thus begins our class study on winter textures.

Back in the classroom we warmed up with cups of yummy mint tea with a touch of honey and milk.  Our new friends were very enthusiastic about tea time at school. We are looking forward to watching our new class blossom and grow as the year progresses!
